About

The material on the Shrewsbury Local History website has been researched and written by Andrew Pattison.

As a recently retired doctor who worked in general practice and substance misuse, these subjects naturally feature among my interests.

I am also a Church leader, so am keen to find out how Christianity has affected our town. There is much information available about church architecture, but much less about people, both clerical and lay, which is a deficiency I would like to help to remedy.

Shrewsbury is known throughout the world as Charles Darwin’s birthplace. I am also interested in what impact he and his family had on the town and it on him. For more information see my book ‘The Darwins of Shrewsbury’ in the shop.
